Craftworx Jewellery Workshops

Craftworx Jewellery Workshops is one of seven artists' studios situated in superbly renovated barns on a working farm, set just outside the picturesque village of Bishop Burton in East Yorkshire on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds. This remote location is easy to access with motorway, train, sea and air transport routes close by.

 

Students travel from all over the United Kingdom and abroad, often to stay longer to enjoy the surrounding area.

 

The renovated barn conversion is light and spacious, providing a practical and very well equipped facility with all the essential tools and equipment for your use.

 

As the only dedicated Metal Clay studio in the north of England, Craftworx provides the perfect environment for you to gain knowledge and confidence in working in metal clay. The studio offers a climate controlled environment for your comfort.

 

The studios offer full wheelchair access and facilities. A fridge is also available for your convenience. There is plenty of car parking space available.

 

A warm welcome awaits you. You will feel relaxed and will enjoy your time learning the skills and techniques in working with metal clay.

The retreat took place near one of the busiest inland tourist destinations in East Yorkshire - Beverley. This historic market town offers a wealth of attractions and places to stay from B&B to 4 star hotels. There was plenty to choose from.

Chris has been combining food & art for the past several years focusing on a gourmet lunch service in conjunction with some of the more well known Metal Clay artists in the United States & around the world. He loves to cook as fresh, authentic & seasonal as possible while incorporating the traditions of the local cuisine.

 

Chris' meals were also inspired by our Midsummer's Dream

theme, as he served dishes with regional flare.

Evening meals x 2 - Days Two & Five

 

Spousal fee included the Welcome Reception and the two evening meals.

 

All meals were prepared and served on site at the venue uitlising the facilities in the Foreman's House.

By Car from M62

 

Exit M62 at Junction 38

 

Follow the signs for the B1230 Gilberdyke,

North Cave

 

At the top of the slip road continue ahead on the B1230. This is a 9 mile long road that passes through the village of North Cave. At the staged junction continue to follow the signs for the B1230 until you pass through the village of Walkington. Continue on to the traffic lights

 

Turn left at the lights, follow the road to the roundabout and take the first left onto the A1079

 

The A1079 passes through Bishop Burton. You are now approaching from west of Beverley

On the A1079 as you pass through the village of Bishop Burton, you have the pond on the left.

 

On your right you will pass a pub called the Altisidora, followed by Bishop Burton College entrance.

 

Take the next Left turn into Finkle St

 

Pass the small village shop on your right.

 

Take the 2nd Right turn (signposted Cold Harbour Farm). This is a single track road. Follow the road till you reach the farm.

 

Drive up the main path and park behind the wall marked 89. Walk back towards the clock tower. Just before the tower are two large blue/grey gates. Walk into the court yard where Craftworx can be found in the far left corner.

 

By Train

 

The nearest local train station is Beverley (approximately 4 miles). This is on the route from Hull which has mainline services from both North and South.

 

If travelling by train on a Trans-pennine route from the west, disembark at Brough Station and take a taxi from the station to the studio. (Approximately 10 miles). To save time, you can call the local taxi firm ahead of your arrival and provide your arrival time at Brough. The telephone number is 01482 666525.

 

By Air

 

The nearest Airport is Humberside. Take a taxi to the studio. This will  include crossing the Humber Bridge which will incur extra charges. Alternatively Leeds Bradford Airport is approximately a 1 hour drive. Hire cars can be arranged from the airport. We advise you prearrange this in advance.

 

By Sea

 

Passenger/Car sea ferries from Europe dock into Hull. If you are travelling without a car, continue your journey by taxi to the studio.
